So... this past Mother's day was a very windy one. The kids had played outside for a little bit but I was concerned that it may have been too much wind...and so it WAS. My little Cael got sick... he got an ear infection AND it stirred up all kinds of yucky green ickies and a cough. However that cough was not just a cough it lead to an ASTHMA attack like BAD ones he has had before B-A-D!! So, after a breathing treatment at midnight Monday night at home and him sleeping in our bed so I can hear him...and he was just not wanting to be alone.. he was latched on to me. He had a HORRIBLE night of tossing and turning...coughing, fever and just crying. Tuesday morning, I made a appt. to see his doctor.. first thing.. and THANK GOD we got him in right away due to a cancellation because I was ready to take him to urgent care! He was so so SO VERY PALE and I was worried. Before the appt. I gave him another treatment and he seemed to feel a bit better but with the albruteral it just gets him excited.
Daddy took him to the appt. and they had a really hard time just checking his vitals. SO NOT like him.. he is always just chill about all this. He oxygen levels WERE VERY LOW and they said to take him to ER right now! SCARY!! So...Nathan and I just KNEW.. this is not our first rodeo with this munchkin... we knew it would be an all day ER visit and most like be admitted. So.. I took him to the ER and daddy went to finish up work for the rest of the week. We just had a feeling.
Cael was so not having it at the ER. He did not want ANYONE touching him.. just me holding him and he was so EXHAUSTED! He cried the whole time when the nurses checked his vitals, when the doctor came in to check him.. he freaked out when she checked out his ears... NOT HAPPY! Turned out he has an ear infection in the right ear.... it was REALLY RED she said. So, while we were in ER he had a meds, kept ripping off the oxygen tubes in his nose... URG!...a breathing treatment and xray's on his chest, shots in which it took 4 nurses.. 2 female and 2 male... really the male nurses held him down and the two ladies attacked him with one shot in each thigh at the same time! OUCH! More poor baby SCREAMED like I have never heard him scream before! IT WAS AWFUL.. but I tried to mask my emotions by taking photos! .. kinda funny as I think about it.. but I thought....total blog moment. I did rescue him after and held him tight! It was at this point that he did NOT WANT anyone touching his lower body!! He had two of his blankies covering him from tummy to toe and he let you know if you dared to touch those blankies!
Finally, after we got word of him being admitted and waited for his room. We moved over and he became scared.. he was not sure of the new nurses that would be doing the poking and prodding all over again. However.. not so much a stranger one of the nurses.. we have met..she is our neighbor, lives on the same street we do! SMALL WORLD indeed! Soon, he calmed down after being in the new bed and watching cartoons. Daddy and sissy finally arrived and he was excited to see them and you can see he was a little happier to have us all there. Kayleigh and I left to get daddy and Cael an overnight bag. During so, Cael finally had his appetite to eat and had his FAV... macaroni and cheese! Nathan said he loved it.. he devoured it. When I went back to deliver the bag and some toys for him to play with in bed... he was having another breathing treatment and his spirits were better.
It was REALLY hard to leave him but ..like I said it was not our first rodeo and I had done many ER visits with him and hospital stays... so this time.. it was daddy duty. I was okay with it.. I was totally exhausted and I know that he would be fine with daddy.. I just want to be in the KNOW... ya know. So, a report from daddy this morning is that he had a rough night of sleep due to them coming in and checking on him.. he would start to cry when being woken and tried to take the oxygen tubes out.. he finally got some solid sleep from 3 am to 7'ish am. He had a very good breakfast...eating well! Some staff or someone?? came around to entertain the kids and played a fishing game with him.. it was excited.. they give him a fishing pole in which it was SPONGE BOB and he had to reel in a toy. He got some flamingo thing and a can of silly spray.. in which daddy said they will use to attack Kayleigh and I when we come to visit. Then we had a visit from the doctor and he said that he is looking better BUT he said he is still breathing to hard and fast and it may be another night stay! BOO!! We shall see what happens....
after some struggle.. he gave up and put up with the nasal tubes... sad!
This.. he was interested in! He liked the Xray machine.. he didn't cry but whimpered..he was more curious.
probably wondering why this thing is on him?
a gift from the nurse.. a cute lil bear stayed with him to comfort him along the way ~
love him ~
...he needed the O2 bag too while sleeping... : (
this was my view.. the bear, curtain looking out.. nurses station.. people walking by.
he took the nasal tube out but had to deal with the bag... which he thought was a balloon.
PHEW! all done with that. So after the hugs and kisses and many tears, the red face became less and he smiled and laughed and clapped with ... gloves!
...finally moved in to our new digs....
...always an watchful eye...
...where daddy and Cael will be spending A LOT of time.
....ummm yeah! once again.. he pulls off the nasal tube!
...and whips them around like a lasso...
daddy and sissy ARRIVE ~

Sister was a little nervous to get around brother and sit with him on the bed at first ~
